TITLE: NAPF Yearbook

CLIENT: National Association of Pension Funds (since rebranded as the PLSA)

SPEC: PUR-bound A4 portrait, 256-page, softcover book with matt laminated cover and Spot UV finish

Project Notes

A challenging and technically demanding product which required a close working relationship with the client.

The book features:

• a layout-driven introductory editorial section
• a main section presenting Pension Fund data—the bulk of the book
• separate sections featuring business member service listings by category, plus indexes.

Presentation of the main section required connecting the page layout program to a relational database (SQL). The same method was used to present member data, premium business listings and enhanced listings with QR codes. A unique method was devised to automate the presentation of pension asset class breakdowns and pension contributions as attractive bar charts.

Damion Chew Design appointed an external editor to oversee editorial content and proofreading of the book, and sourced a database manager and developer, Fruition Developments, to oversee collection of pension fund data online via a dedicated microsite.

Pre-production also included a comprehensive tech-spec for advertisers. Buxton Press were awarded the print contract for the second year running and did a fine job.
