Project details

CLIENT: AMLo Biosciences

BRIEF: Develop a friendly, approachable logo and brand identity for a start-up biosciences firm with the goal of revolutionising the way in which melanomas—skin cancers—are diagnosed, accurately predicting the risk of metastases, improving patient outcomes and saving health services millions worldwide.

AMLo is named for two proteins in the skin—AMBRA1 and Loricrin—which overly a primary tumour that are lost in high-risk melanomas.

Project Notes

A wonderful project to work on from start to finish with an engaged, enthusiastic client.

The entire AMLo team were involved with positive feedback on a strong set of initial concepts with a winner quickly emerging: a stylised representation of cells in the stratum corneum (in what the team refers to as a basketweave pattern).

The final concept was developed further and subsequently applied to:

  • Business cards and letterhead
  • Brand guidelines
  • A letterhead template in Microsoft Word
  • A presentation deck template with multiple slide types in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Data capture software interface
  • Flyers
  • Pull-up roller banners
  • Window vinyls
  • Branded giveaways: pens, lanyards, mugs, post-it notes, etc
  • Social media profiles
  • Website

Additional services included:

  • Conducting initial trademark searches and providing graphics in support of a trademark application
  • Setting up a Dropbox folder for the team so they could share brand assets
  • Arranging print on all their business cards, flyers and banners
  • Applying branding to a data capture software interface, testing the software, then writing simple user instructions for the team to follow so they could capture contact data while at conferences and meetings using a Microsoft Surface laptop/tablet
